Defining Anchor Points for Structure Section

You can define anchor points on user-defined parametric sections. If the anchor point you want to define does not correspond to an existing point of the sketch, create an appropriate construction point.

Before you begin: Sketch profiles for a structure section. For more information, see Sketching Profiles for Structure Section.

  1. Edit the sketched section.
  2. Rename the point.
    1. Right-click the point and select Properties.
      The Properties dialog box appears.
    2. Select the Feature Properties tab in the Properties dialog box.
    3. Rename the point using the prefix catStr.
  3. For parts that need the edge of the web to be welded to the plate, e.g. L, T, FL, Bulb sections, rename the points that define the left, center, and right of the web section. This will allow the section to locate correctly when placed on the plates.
    1. Rename the left point in the sketcher as catStrWebSideLeft.
    2. Rename the center point as catStrWebCenter.
    3. Rename the rightmost point as catStrWebSideRight.
  4. Click Exit app to exit Sketcher.
  5. Select Share > Save > Save with Options to save the sketch as a CATPart document.
  6. Return to the Structure Design app.
The new anchor point is automatically added to the Anchor point list. All user anchor points are accompanied by the symbol to distinguish them from standard anchor points.

Note: All resolved sections automatically inherit the defined anchor point.
