Generating Resolved Sections from a Generic Section

You can create sections by resolving the generic section using the component family.


Before you begin: Open a generic section model associated with the design table.
  1. In the top bar, select Add > Content.
    The New Content dialog box appears, listing the Favorites, the Most Recently Used objects and various categories. For more information about creating a new object, see 3DEXPERIENCE Native Apps: Creating New Objects.
  2. Expand the Components Family Modeler category.
    The Components Family Modeler list appears.
  3. Click Components Family.

    Note: If you select the Set attributes at creation contextual option, an additional dialog box opens if the creation requires specific attributes to be defined.

  4. Optional: In the Components Family tab, enter the title and name of the component family.
  5. Optional: In the Components Family Model tab, enter the required details.
    1. In Family type area, select either Standard Family or Design Family.

      By default, the Standard Family option is selected

    2. In the Maturity Management area, select Automatic Change or Manual Change.

      By default, the Automatic Change option is selected

    3. In the Generic Model box, browse and select the generic section saved in database.

      The generic section opens in the session.

    4. In the Table list, select the design table containing list of all the section parameters.

      By default, the design table associated with the selected generic session appears in the list.

    Important: You must define the generic model and table to create a component family.

  6. Click OK.
    The component family is created.

    The session is switched to Component Family.



    In the right pane, the component family tree is displayed.

    In the left pane, all the sections and its parameters from the design table are listed.

  7. From the Component Family section of the action bar, click Change maturity of Generic Model .

    The following message appears:

    This command changes the maturity of generic model.
     It is mandatory that the generic model has a maturity that
     ensures its non editability before any family item is resolved. 
    The maturity of all components of the generic model will be 
    changed including table's representation.

  8. Click OK.
    The status of the section reference changes from IN_WORK to SHARED.
  9. Select Share > Save > Save with Options to save the component family.
  10. From the Component Family section of the action bar, click Test or resolve items of the family .

    The Test or resolve items dialog box appears.

  11. In the Items Selection area, select any one of the options:
    • All: All the section parameters will be resolved.
    • Selection: Selected section parameters will be resolved.
  12. Select Resolve Items (Standard Naming) to resolve the items.
    You can also select Test items to test if the items to be resolved are getting resolved or not.
  13. Click Execute.
    The resolution progress bar shows the items are being resolved.

    The items are resolved and the report is displayed in the Report area. The sections are resolved and stored in the database.

    Note: The button in front of the part number turns green for the resolved item.

  14. Click Close to close the Test or resolve items dialog box.
