Creating a View Update Rule Template

You can create a view update rule template with customized requirements.

This task shows you how to:

Create a View Update Rule Template

Before you begin: You must have installed the Templates and Rules Designer (TER) role to create templates.

From the Smart Template Administration section of the action bar, click Create Ruleset Template .
A rule set node is created in the tree.
In the tree, right-click a rule set and select Rule Set object > Add View Rule Template.
A view rule template is created under the rule set node.
In the View Update Rule dialog box, under Condition, select Object Selection from the list.
Select an object or an item from the generated view.
Under Action, specify the 2D graphic properties.
Optional: Select the Inhibit View Operators check box.
You can also select the required Clipping and Breakout check boxes.
Optional: Select the Coloring check box and select a color.
Optional: Select the No Show check box.

You can create a view update rules using a knowledgeware script in the rule set template.

From the Smart Template Administration section of the action bar, click Create Ruleset Template .
A rule set node is created in the tree.
In the tree, right-click a rule set and select Rule Set object > Add View Rule Template.
A view rule template is created under the rule set node.
In the View Update Rule dialog box, click Editor .
In the Action Editor dialog box, edit the script.
Notes:
- If any syntax error is present in the knowledgeware script, an error message appears.
- The syntax of the script needs to be corrected, else the rule is not executed during the view update.
