About Creating Multiviews

You can create additional views with the same inputs and view specifications.

Creating Multiviews Using Planes

General

The following objects can be selected to create additional views:

  • Plane in 3D or plane within the axis system
  • Structure Functional Design (SFD) Panel feature.
  • Structure Design (SDD) Panel product.
  • Plane from the Space Reference System (SRS) list defined in the Data Setup under the common reference geometry resource set.
Note: Only the planes that are parallel to the main view plane can be selected. You can select only the planes that are within the bounding box of the selected 3D object.

The following objects are copied to the additional views:

  • View template
  • View specification: GVS, view scale, and view title
  • Structural view specifications
  • Box filter type
  • View update rules created using KWE rules

The primary filter content elements (Add or remove elements) are not copied to the additional views.

View Plane Computation for Additional Views

Selected Object View Plane
Planes in 3D or plane from the SRS reference plane list The selected plane is the view plane.
  • SFD panel feature
  • SDD panel product
The view plane is computed from the delimited support surface of the selected panel.

If the delimited support is made of multiple surfaces, then the largest planar surface is considered as the view plane.

In the multisurface-delimited support, if the curved surface is three times larger than the largest planar surface then the plane is computed at the center of the curved surface.

Creation of Spatial Filter Box

Based on the selection of plane, the spatial filter box is automatically created with the default offset of 5mm.

You can modify the box offset or box.

For Main View
Selected Object Spatial Filter Box
Planes in 3D or plane from the SRS reference plane list

The spatial filter box created along the plane where all the sides are extended up to the end of 3D part.

After creation, you can modify only the box offset.

The box cannot be modified as the box has no links with the plane or the 3D part. Changes made to plane after the view creation, does not modify the box.

SFD panel feature

Same as above.

An option is provided to change the box and select an SFD panel, where the box size is equal to the selected SFD panel.

SDD panel product By default, a spatial filter box is created for the selected SDD product panel.

An option is provided to change the box up to the end of 3D part along the view Plane or the selected SDD panel.

For Structural View
Selected Object Spatial Filter Box
Planes in 3D or plane from the SRS reference plane list The structural box is automatically created with default offset.
SFD panel feature The structural box is automatically is created with default offset.

An option is provided to change the box to select an SFD/SDD panel.

SDD panel product

Note: The spatial filter box created from a 3D part has links to the selected 3D part.

Near and far side offset values for the structural box are fetched from the Me > Preferences. For more information, see Structural View.
