Placing an Annotation Along an Item

You can place an annotation along a particular 2D item.

The annotation is created such that the orientation is same as the tangent to the 2D item at the position where the 2D item is annotated.

Context:

The initial position used by the strategy to create the annotation is the middle of the curve of the 2D item.

  1. In the Annotation Rule dialog box, under Placement Strategy, select Along Item from the Main list.
  2. Click Edit to edit the strategy parameters.
  3. In the Placement Strategy dialog box, select any one of the following from the Anchor list:

    Middle

The annotation is centered on the 2D item.

    Above/Left

The annotation is above the 2D item when the angle between the tangent to the 2D item and the sheet horizontal is less than or equal to 45°.

The annotation is placed on the left of the 2D item when that angle is greater than 45°.

    Above/Right

The annotation is above the 2D item when the angle between the tangent to the 2D item and the sheet horizontal is less than or equal to 45°.

The annotation is placed on the right of the 2D item when that angle is greater than 45°.

    Below/Left

The annotation is below the 2D item when the angle between the tangent to the 2D item and the sheet horizontal is less than or equal to 45°.

The annotation is placed on the left of the 2D item when that angle is greater than 45°.

    Below/Right

The annotation is below the 2D item when the angle between the tangent to the 2D item and the sheet horizontal is less than or equal to 45°.

The annotation is placed on the right of the 2D item when that angle is greater than 45°.

  4. From the Item list, select Longest Gen Item.
Selects the longest generated item of the 3D object for the annotation placement.
  5. Optional: From the Condition list, select No Overlap.
  6. Optional: From the Optimization list, select a Along Curve.
