Placing an Annotation Along a Segment

You can place annotations along particular 2D segments of a 3D object.

The annotation is created such that its orientation is same as the orientation of the segment at the position where the segment is annotated.


Before you begin: Open a drawing containing a generated view.

About the No Overlap Success Condition

Context:

The initial position used by the strategy to compute the annotation position is the middle of the longest generated item of the segment, projected on the center curve of the segment.



  1. In the Annotation Rule dialog box, under Placement Strategy, select Along Segment from the Main list.
  2. Click Edit to edit the strategy parameters.
  3. In the Placement Strategy dialog box, select Longest Gen Item from the Item list.
    Selects the longest generated item of the 3D object for the annotation placement.
  4. Optional: From the Condition list, select No Overlap.

Note: The annotations created with this strategy are always created without any leader.
