Editing View Update Rules and Annotation Rules

You can edit a view rule or an annotation rule after its creation. You can delete, activate or deactivate, or sort the rules.

This task shows you how to:

Edit a Rule

  1. Perform any one of the action:
    • From the Smart View section of the action bar, click Create or Edit Rule .
    • From the Smart View section of the action bar, click Edit View .
  2. In the Smart View dialog box, click View Rule Tab.
  3. From the list, select a view rule and click .
  4. In the View Update Rule dialog box, edit the required parameters.

Notes:
  • You can also edit the rule from the tree. In the tree, double-click the rule or right-click the rule, and select XXXobject > Definition.
  • If the rule is created by object selection condition, you cannot modify the selected object for the rule. You can make changes only to the view rule actions.
  • If the rule is created from knowledgeware rule condition, you can modify both the script and the view rule actions.

Delete a Rule

  1. Perform any one of the action:
    • From the Smart View section of the action bar, click Create or Edit Rule .
    • From the Smart View section of the action bar, click Edit View .
  2. In the Smart View dialog box, click View Rule Tab.
  3. From the list, select a view rule and click Delete .

Note: You can also delete the rule from the tree. In the tree, right-click a rule and select Delete.

Activate or Deactivate a Rule

  1. Perform any one of the action:
    • From the Smart View section of the action bar, click Create or Edit Rule .
    • From the Smart View section of the action bar, click Edit View .
  2. In the Smart View dialog box, click View Rule Tab.
  3. In the view rule list, click to activate the rule or click to deactivate the rule.

Note: You can also activate or deactivate the rule from the tree. In the tree, right-click a rule and select Activate or Deactivate.

Sort the Rules

  1. Perform any one of the action:
    • From the Smart View section of the action bar, click Create or Edit Rule .
    • From the Smart View section of the action bar, click Edit View .
  2. In the Smart View dialog box, click View Rule Tab.
  3. From the list, select a view rule and click any one of the following:

    • : To move the rule up or down.
    • : To move the rule to the first or last place in the list.

Notes:
  • Reorder can only be done within the particular rule type.

    For example, rules of type knowledgeware script can be reordered within the rules of type knowledgeware script. The rule type can be recognized by the icon next to the rule name.

  • Moving a rule to first or last position respects the rule type group as specified above.
