Creating a Structural Section View

You can create a structural section view quickly from a structural view.

Create a Structural Section View

  1. From the Smart View section of the action bar, click Create Structural Section View .
  2. Select the main view from the sheet to create its section view.
  3. Sketch a section profile line.
    • Sketch the profile line: Select first point and second point of the section profile.
    • Select a line: An infinite line is shown as a guide for selection of points. Select two points on the line to create the section profile line.
  4. In the sheet, click on either side of the section profile to select the view direction.
    A section view box is created along the section profile with a default offset of 5mm.
  5. Click OK to generate the section view.
    The view is generated with a callout.



  6. Optional: Right-click the section view and select Properties. Edit the section view name.

    By default, the newly created section view always has the name as ASD-A.

    This does not update the name of the callout text in the main view. You have to update the view name only through View Property dialog box using the Create Structural Section View command.

  7. To edit the section view, perform any one of the following actions:
    • Click Create Structural Section View and select a view. In the message box, click Yes to modify the view.
    • Right-click the section view callout and select Callout object > Definition.
    • Double-click the callout line.

Manage Other Structural Parameters

You can manage other parameters during the creation of section view.

  1. In the Structural Section View dialog box, click Catalog Browser and select a template.
  2. Click Show View Property and double-click to modify the required parameters.

    You can modify the view properties such as view name, generative view style, scale, and view looking direction.

  3. Click and modify the required parameters.
  4. Modify the section view box offset:
    • Click 3D Viewer and modify the section view box offset.
    • Click Modify Section View Box Offset and modify the required parameters.
  5. In the Edit Section View Box Offset dialog box, click Extend upto box to extend the box up to the part extremity.
  6. Click Modify Section Profile Sketch to modify the section profile.
