  1. From the Utilities section of the action bar, click 3DEXPERIENCE Utility and drop it on the process diagram.
  2. Double-click 3DEXPERIENCE Utility .
    The 3DEXPERIENCE Utility Editor appears.
  3. Select the Pre-Execute tab.
  4. Do either of the following to specify the parameters to map:
    • Select Content list and search for the object containing the 3DEXPERIENCE parameters.
    • Select Parameter and choose an existing parameter or create a new parameter.
  5. Optional: Use the Filters to reduce the number of items that appear in the table. For example, you can choose to display only 3DEXPERIENCE parameters or only the parameters that contain a particular text string in their name.

You can also select a node in the tree to view the 3DEXPERIENCE parameters associated with that node. Use the Find box above the tree to quickly locate the desired item in the tree. Drag the bar to the right of the tree to expand or contract it as needed.

Note: To start a search using the Find box, click or . Do not press Enter because this will close the adapter window.

  6. To map a 3DEXPERIENCE parameter to an activity parameter with the same name, do the following:
    1. Click in the Select column for each parameter that you want to add.
    2. Click OK.
Optimization Process Composer creates the parameter with the same mode and type.

    Note:

The mapping process maintains the value of Knowledgeware and PLM parameters in your display units.

For example, a Knowledgeware parameter representing a length of 200mm, but with display units of meters, will be treated as a value of 0.2 by the activity parameter in the simulation process. Optimization Process Composer does not support unit conversion.

To reflect the change in display units in the activity parameter's value, you must recreate the mapping by clearing it, closing and reopening the 3DEXPERIENCE Utility Editor, and selecting the mapping again.

    Note:

When mapping a Knowledgeware parameter into an activity parameter, the adapter does not support using Knowledgeware parameters that use the same name, regardless of the parent node in the tree under which the Knowledgeware parameters are defined.

For example, a Knowledgeware parameter named PadDim is defined under two Physical Products: Physical Product 1 and Physical Product 2. The adapter cannot distinguish between the Knowledgeware parameter defined under either of the Physical Products. The adapter may also fail if one the Knowledgeware parameters with the same name used for mapping has a read-only attribute.

  7. To map a 3DEXPERIENCE parameter with an existing activity parameter, do the following:
    1. Click in the Activity Parameter column in the same row as the parameter that you want to map.
    2. From the list, select the existing activity parameter to which you want to map.
    3. Click OK.
  8. To map a 3DEXPERIENCE parameter to a new activity parameter, do the following:
    1. Click in the Activity Parameter column in the same row as the 3DEXPERIENCE parameter that you want to map.
    2. Select Create new.
      The Create New panel appears.
    3. Enter the parameter name.
    4. Optional: Edit the type and mode.
    5. Click OK.
Optimization Process Composer adds the parameter to the activity. The parameter is also shown as a 3DEXPERIENCE parameter.

Note: For a simulation created in Plastic Injection, each input parameter has a Boolean parameter of the same name with "Active" appended to it. For example, Melt Temperature would have an associated Boolean parameter named Melt Temperature Active. To use these parameters, select the original and the Boolean parameter from the Pre-Execute tab and set the Boolean parameter to true.

  9. Optional: Click Select all or Deselect all to add or clear parameters.
  10. Click Show selected to view the selected parameters.
  11. Click Validate to confirm that the selected parameters exist and have valid units.

If you selected a large number of parameters, the validation operation may be slow to complete.

If a parameter is valid, Optimization Process Composer reads its value from the 3DEXPERIENCE database and displays the value.
  12. Click Ok to save your changes and to close the Utility editor.

The update of the simulation object is skipped in the pre-execution phase of 3DX Utility, but is then updated during the execution phase. This behavior is communicated with a message in the job log.
