Standard Opening Dialog Box

The Standard Opening dialog box appears when you click Browse in the Opening dialog box. It provides various options to create a standard opening.

Type

In the Type box, select the type of the opening.

  • Rectangular
  • Round
  • Oblong
  • Catalog

For the Catalog type, you can create an user-defined opening by selecting a contour from the opening table defined in Data Setup.

Contour

In the Contour box, select the opening dimensions.

The table browser for selection of opening contour appears when you click More... in the Contour box.

  • This list is generated from the opening table defined in the Resources Catalog or the Resources Library resource specified in Data Setup.
    Note: If no Resources Catalog or Resources Library resource is set in Data Setup, the Type list becomes unavailable. But you can still create the catalog type opening by clicking More... in the Contour list and:
    • Selecting the required opening reference from the catalog or library, if the Structure Reference Catalog or the Structure Reference Library resource is set in Data Setup.
    • Searching the required opening reference in the database, if no Structure Reference Catalog or Structure Reference Library resource is set in Data Setup.
  • Filters are applied depending upon opening type and contour.
  • + sign near Contour Name box and Contour Type box indicates the filter applied. Click Reset Filter to remove filter.

Position

In the Position box, select the appropriate option to define the location and orientation of the opening.

You can define location of the opening using following options:

Offset / Offset
Offset from reference elements in U and V directions.
Half Height / Offset
Offset from a reference element in U direction, and halfway between plate edges in V direction.
Mid Dist / Offset
Halfway between two elements in U direction, and offset from another reference element in V direction.
Mid Dist / Mid Dist
Halfway between two elements in U direction, and halfway between two other elements in V direction.
Half Height / Mid Dist
Halfway between two elements in U direction, and halfway between plate edges in V direction .
3D Axis
Position at the origin of the 3D axis.

Parameters

You can specify the orientation angle in the Parameter area.

Axis Definition

In the Axis box, select the 3D axis system.

You can also create an axis system by right-clicking in the box and selecting Axis System... or Axis System On Selection.

Important: This area is available only when you select 3D Axis as Positioning type.

References

In the References area, select elements to specify the location of the opening. You can place the opening at some offset from the reference element by specifying the value in the Offset box. The offset side depends on the orientation of the reference element. You can toggle the offset side by using the Switch Side button.

Contour

In the Contour tab, you can specify the opening dimensions.

Note: The Status column indicates if the parameter value is editable or not. Locked meaning value is not editable. You can edit unlocked values.
