Creating User Connections

You can create user connection which groups structural elements contributing to a complex connection.


Before you begin: Open a structure system to define a user connection.

  1. From the Detail section of the action bar, click User Connection .
    The Connection dialog box appears.
  2. In the Category box, select a category.

    By default, categories available for selection are: Connection Braces, Connection Column 1 Beam, Connection Complex, Connection Diamond Plate, Connection Column 2 Beams, Connection Pillar to Plate and Connection Star Gusset.

  3. In the Reference box, select a beam in the work area.
  4. In the Elements list, select another beam in the work area.
    The selected structural object is listed in the Object column and C1 is displayed in the Name column.
  5. Right-click the row C1 and select Set Intersecting element.
    The mark appears next to C1 in the Elements area indicating the intersecting element. Also, a point is created at the intersection of the reference object and the selected element in the work area.
  6. Click OK.

The user connection is formed.

A UserConnection.1 sub-node is created under UserConnectionSet node in the tree.

Tip: To modify predefined user connection:
  • Double-click the intersection point which is created while defining the user connection.
  • Select the intersection point created and click User Connection in the Detail section of the action bar.
  • Right-click the UserConnection.1 node in the tree and select UserConnection.1 object > User Connection.
