Synchronizing Project Data

Whenever the reference planes system used to create a given structure system is modified, you need to synchronize the project data. You can also replace a reference plane system with another one assigned in Data Setup and map the reference planes using the mapping rule.

  • You can perform the synchronization for the following modifications related to:
    • The category of the reference planes
    • The name of one or more planes
    • The offset value of one or more planes
    • The orientation of the reference planes
    • The color and thickness of the reference planes
    • The origin and orientation of the plane system
    • The number of planes in the plane system.
  • You cannot synchronize the reference planes system after it has been deleted or renamed.

Before you begin:
  • Assign the Common Geometry Reference, Secondary Geometry References and Mapping Rule in the Data Setup.
  • Create a structure system under a root product.

About Data Setup for Structure Functional Design
  1. Open the root product containing the structure system.
  2. Open the current reference plane system, that is the one used to create structure system, in the Space Referential app.
    You are switched to the Space Referential app.
  3. Modify the reference plane system.

  4. Click Share > Save > Save with Options to save the modifications.
  5. Switch to the Structure Functional Design app.
    The Structure Functional Design app opens.
  6. In the tree, right-click Project Data.x and select Project Data.x object > Synchronize.
    The Synchronize panel appears. The panel displays the name of the current reference plane system. The Replace by list contains a list of all the reference plane systems assigned in Data Setup.
  7. Define whether to synchronize or replace the reference plane system.
    1. To synchronize the reference planes, in the Replace by list, select the reference plane system that is same as the current reference plane system.
      The Synchronize action is displayed in the panel.

    or,

    1. To replace the reference plane system, in the Replace by list, select a reference plane system other than the current one.
      The action is changed to Replace.
  8. Click .
    A progress bar appears, showing the synchronization or replacement progress depending on the action. An html report is generated. It contains a detailed information about the synchronized or replaced planes and project data features.
    Warning: You must to assign the Mapping Rule resource in the Data Setup to complete the replace action. If the business rule is not assigned, a warning message appears.
