Creating an Opening Reference

The opening reference is a part containing the definition of parameters and a contour.


Before you begin: Create a structure opening.

  1. Double-click the representation node in the tree.
  2. From the Geometrical Tools section of the action bar, click Positioned Sketch .
    The Sketch Positioning dialog box appears.
  3. Select the xy working plane in the work area.

    Important: The user sections created using sketcher capabilities must be created in the xy plane.

  4. Sketch the profile as shown below:

    The opening sketch is created.

  5. Apply parameters to the sketch.
    1. Constraint the sketch.
    2. From the Tools section of the action bar, click Formula to add a formula.

      Notes:
      • Only public parameters are visible while instantiating an opening.
      • If the parameter is unlocked, values can be changed during instantiation.
      • You can lock parameters to restrict changing values.
      • You can also set formulas. For more information about creating formulas, see Knowledge Basics User's Guide : Managing Relations: Formulas.

    The sketch is constrained and its parameters are defined.

  6. Click Exit app to exit Sketcher.
  7. Select Share > Save > Save with Options to save the opening.
    The opening is saved in the database.
