Editing Evolution Effectivity

You can edit the evolution effectivity on a configured instance of an object using the available evolution criteria.

Before you begin: Ensure that:
  • The root object has models attached to it.
  • The object whose evolution effectivity you want to edit has a configuration context. For more information, see Editing the Configuration Context.
  • Variant/option and evolution effectivity are decoupled. They are decoupled by default, but your Administrator may have changed the setting.
  • You have selected an object that has a configuration context and clicked Edit Evolution Effectivity. The location of this action varies based on the app that you are using.
  1. In the Edit Evolution dialog box for the instance, to select the model version evolutions to use for evolution effectivity, do the following:
    1. Select the Model version check box if it is not already selected.
    2. Click .
The Select Model version dialog box opens.
  2. Use the Infinite Select Mode slider to configure the selection mode:

    • Disabled (slider to the left): Define the evolution effectivity using only the selected model version evolutions. You may select more than one.
    • Enabled (slider to the right): Define the evolution effectivity using all the model version evolutions from the evolution selected to infinity. You select only the earliest applicable model version evolution and all others to infinity are automatically selected for you.

  3. In the model version list, select the single or range of model version evolutions to define effectivity for the object.
  4. Optional: To display the effectivity expression, click Expression View.
    1. To maximize the Expression field, click .
    2. To minimize the Expression field again, click .
The Expression field containing the effectivity expression is displayed in the dialog box.
  5. Optional: To use the same evolution effectivity for the whole session as you select for this object, select the check box for Keep this Effectivity for next operations in Session.

This specifies the evolution effectivity that you are working under for the session (listed in the Work Under dialog box) as the evolution effectivity that you selected for the model version.

  6. Click OK to close the Edit Evolution dialog box for the model.

The evolution effectivity is defined for the selected object. The evolution effectivity expression is displayed in the Effectivity tab of the object's Properties dialog box.
