Selecting the Context for the Filter

You can include or exclude entire nodes of the structure to select the context for the filter. You can only specify Selection criteria once per filter.

Before you begin: Select a single root object whose structure you want to refine, then open the filter pane. For more information, see User Interface: Filter Commands.
Note: Only the nodes selected in the app from which the filter command is launched are taken into account when defining the filter's context. For example, if you select some nodes of the structure in Product Structure Explore, you cannot select other nodes of the structure in 3D Navigate to further define the filter's context.
  1. Click Add a criterion from Selection.
  2. To include the objects in specific nodes in the filtered structure, do the following:
    1. Click in the Added node field to expand it.
    2. In the main structure view, select the nodes in the structure that you want to include in the filtered structure.
  3. To exclude the objects in specific nodes from the filtered structure, do the following:
    1. Click in the Excluded node field to expand it.
    2. In the main structure view, select the nodes in the structure that you want to exclude from the filtered structure.
  4. Click at the bottom of the node section.

The node section closes. The number of nodes that you selected to include and exclude are displayed next to the Selection section in the filter. Click the display text to open the node section.
