Moving Objects to Another Collaborative Space or Organization

You can move objects to another collaborative space and organization.

For example, you may need to move objects when people change job roles or, when one part of a design has been completed, an object might need to be released to a new owner so they can begin their work.

You can also change the owner of the selected objects during the operation.

Important:
  • Only the selected revision is moved.
  • If you do not change the owner, the original owner is kept. This owner must be part of the target collaborative space and organization.

For more information, see About Moving Content.

You can configure the access roles that can move objects. For more information, see Rules that Configure Ownership.

Before you begin:

Select one or several objects, and click Move .

Important: If the objects are locked, unlock them first.

  1. In the Organization and/or Collaborative Space boxes, start typing the new organization or collaborative space, and select it from the list that appears below.

Note: Only the search fields corresponding to the operations you can perform are displayed. You can only search the collaborative spaces and organizations you are allowed to move content to.

  2. Optional: To change the owner of the selected objects:
    1. Select the Change Owner option.
    2. Start typing the new owner, and select it from the list that appears below.

      Notes:
      • When you click in the Owner box, the users you recently searched are displayed. You must type at least three characters to search for another user.
      • Only the users you are allowed to transfer content to are displayed.

  3. Optional: To add information about the operation, select the Add Message option, and enter your message in the box.
  4. Click Move.
    A progress bar appears.
Important: If you close the window during the process, the objects will not be moved.

The objects belong to the collaborative space/organization pair you selected, and the Completion Status column indicates that the operation is successful.

Notes:
  • About embedded components:
    • You cannot select an embedded component, that is a physical product for which value of Is Embedded Component is TRUE, and move it.
    • When you move the parent of an embedded component, the embedded component is also moved.
  • About SOLIDWORKS objects:
    • When you move a physical product that represents a configuration in a SOLIDWORKS family, the family and physical products corresponding to all other configurations from the same family are also moved.
    • When you move a CAD Family, the family and physical products corresponding to all configurations from the same family are also moved.
