Creating a Center of Gravity Response Variable

You can create a center of gravity response variable to monitor a directional component of the center of gravity for any change in value.

  1. From the Response Variables section of the action bar, click Center of Gravity Response Variable .
  2. Optional: Enter a descriptive Name.
  3. Select a support to monitor the location of its center of gravity.
  4. From the Direction options, select the axis direction (X, Y, Z) to monitor for changes.
  5. From the Axis system definition options, select one of the following:
    OptionDescription
    Global Aligns the local feature triad with the global coordinate system.
    Local Aligns the local feature triad with a selected axis system in the model. If you select this axis system, you must also specify whether the axis system is Cartesian or Cylindrical.
    Specify Orients the local feature triad directly. Right-click the feature triad glyph on the model, and select an orientation tool.
  6. Click OK.
