Creating a Reaction Force Constraint

You can create a reaction force constraint to specify an acceptable range for the reaction forces in a design study.

  1. From the Objectives & Constraints section of the action bar, click Reaction Force Constraint .
  2. Optional: Enter a descriptive Name.
  3. Select the support for which you want to constrain the reaction force.
  4. Select the Loading.

    You define the loading by selecting a step or load case that is used to compute the reaction force. The default is all load cases.

  5. From the Direction options, select one of the following:
    OptionDescription
    Total Specifies a limit for the total reaction force.
    Component Specifies a minimum and maximum for the reaction force in the X-, Y-, and Z-directions.
  6. Enter the total magnitude or the minimum and maximum for each force component, based on your choice in the previous step.
  7. Click OK.
