Applying Initial Turbulence

Initial turbulence defines the initial values of certain turbulence parameters at the start of a flow simulation.

Initial turbulence must be defined only if you have selected Spalart-Allmaras, Realizable k-epsilon, or SST k-omega as the turbulence model in the Physics definition for the simulation. If the turbulence model is set to None (for ILES), you do not need to create an initial turbulence.

  1. From the Initial Conditions section of the action bar, click Initial Turbulence .
  2. Optional: Enter a Name for the initial turbulence in the dialog box.
  3. Select the geometry supports in the model.

An initial turbulence must be applied to one or more fluid domains. You can click the glyph in the model to select the fluid domain.

  4. Click OK.
