About Noninteractive Simulation Monitoring

When you run a simulation in noninteractive mode from within the app or from a Navigation or Search window, status information is displayed on your workstation as long as your session remains open.

Viewing Simulation Results While a Job Is Running

The full set of monitoring data in the Simulation Status dialog box is not available when you run a simulation in noninteractive mode or from a Navigation or Search window, but you can monitor when the simulation has started and completed, and you can terminate the simulation while it is in progress.

If you run a simulation in noninteractive mode and close your session, you can do either of the following:

  • Open the simulation in a simulation app and request to display status information on your workstation.

  • Select the simulation from the Navigation or Search window, click Notification , and select the Notify me when the simulation is complete check box from the window that appears. If the simulation is running locally, you can request status information only if you are on the same workstation that is running the simulation.

In addition, the Notification command provides more detailed status messages than the other techniques; for example, it displays messages indicating licensing or database issues. The Notification command is available from the context menu in a Navigation or Search window and from the action bar in a Navigation window.

You can also check the status of a running job quickly by searching for the simulation or by reviewing simulation information in BI Essentials.
