About Licensing for 3DEXPERIENCE.WORKS Roles

If you run 3DEXPERIENCE apps using a simulation role that is part of the 3DEXPERIENCE.WORKS portfolio, the size and complexity of your simulation determines whether it runs using embedded licensing, using credits and tokens on your workstation, or using credits and tokens on a high-performance computing (HPC) cluster.

About Embedded Licensing

When you run a simulation using a simulation role that is part of the 3DEXPERIENCE.WORKS portfolio, the licensing requirements progress through three zones as your simulation increases in size and complexity. In the plot below, the X-axis represents the number of cores required to run the simulation, and the Y-axis represents the number of credits or tokens used for licensing.

The three licensing zones and their licensing requirements are:

Embedded compute zone
Embedded licensing requires no credits or tokens until you exceed the maximum number of cores specified for your app and role.

Workstation compute zone
When you progress beyond the embedded compute zone, adding additional cores requires a linear increase in the number of tokens required above the embedded compute requirements.

HPC compute zone
When you run simulations on a high-performance computing cluster, the number of credits or tokens changes again. The new linear progression matches the credit or token consumption rate used for this app under the 3DEXPERIENCE Industries portfolio.
