Defining Material Behaviors

Material behaviors in a Simulation domain determine which material options are be active during a simulation.

  1. To add a material behavior to the Simulation domain, click Add Behavior , enter a name for the behavior, and click OK.
The new behavior is added to the Behavior list.
  2. To edit the content of a behavior, select it from the Behavior list, and select or clear the individual material option check boxes in the Options field below to add or remove the options from the behavior.

Note: The page icons that appear to the right of some options describe whether the options have been defined in one or more behaviors. means that the selected option is defined in one of the behaviors, and means that the selection option has been defined in multiple behaviors.

  3. Once a material behavior is defined, you can rename it, remove it, or change the default behavior in the simulation.
    • To rename a material behavior, select the behavior from the Behavior list, click its name in the field and type the new name, and press Enter.
    • To remove a behavior from the Simulation domain, select the behavior from the Behavior list and click Delete Behavior .
    • To change the default behavior in the simulation, select the new default behavior from the Behavior and click Set as Default .

Subsequent simulations involving this material will consider only the active material options in the new default behavior.

Important: Propagate the new or updated material definition to the database before using it in an app (see Product Finder and Lifecycle Management User's Guide: Creating, Opening and Saving Objects: Saving).
