About Gears

Gears machine element allows you to model a rack and pinion. You can couple a prismatic and a revolute joint by a kinematic constraint either with a constant or variable transmission ratio.

Creating Gears

Gears models the overall transmission of the rotary motion of the pinion (for example, for a steering wheel) to the linear motion of the rack. The transmission ratio may also be nonlinear, and it can depend on either the pinion angle, or the rack position.
