-
From the Machine Elements section of the action bar,
click Beam
.
-
From the Support options, specify how to locate or position the
bem in the mechanism:
-
Specify the Base marker, which is the first attachment
location on the connecting body or ground.
-
Specify the End marker, which is the second attachment
location on the connecting body or ground.
-
Specify the Beam axis, which defines the axis direction of
the beam with respect to the Base marker reference
system.
-
Enter the value for the Unloaded length, which corresponds
to the force free configuration; that is, the end marker is on the selected axis of
the Base marker with an offset of the given length.
-
From the Cross section options, specify the Cross
section type; that is, Circle or Hollow
circle.
-
Do one of the following:
- If you selected Circle from the Cross section
type options, enter the value for the
Diameter.
- If you selected Hollow circle from the Cross
section type options, enter the value for the Outer
Diameter and Inner Diameter.
-
Specify the Cross section type; that is,
Circle or Hollow circle.
-
If you selected Circle from the Cross section
type options, enter the value for the circle
Diameter.
-
If you selected Hollow circle from the Cross
section type options, enter the value for the Outer
Diameter and Inner Diameter for the hollow
circe.
-
From the Elastic Properties options, specify the linear elastic
properties of the beam:
-
Enter a value for the Young's modulus, which describes the
stiffness of the material (response to strain).
-
Enter a value for the Poisson's ratio, which is the ratio of
longitudinal strain to lateral strain.
-
Enter a value for the Damping factor, which specifies the
damping matrix as a factor to the effective stiffness matrix.
The beam appears in the tree, under the Machine Elements node of
the active mechanism .
