Editing Automatic Joints

You can edit an automatic joint to define specific properties to be taken into account during the mechanism simulation.

Note: By default, at the creation of a mechanism, an automatic joint is created for every engineering connection associated with the mechanism. For more information, see About Joints.

Before you begin: Create a mechanism associated with at least one product and one engineering connection.
  1. In the tree, double-click the automatic joint to edit.

Tip: You can also right-click a joint in the tree and select Definition... in the object menu.

In the dialog box, the joint appears as Automatic from Engineering Connection. You cannot edit its properties, as they correspond to the properties of the associated engineering connection .
  2. Select the joint type to create.
    • The selected joint appears in the Type box.
    • The joint is no longer associated with its engineering connection, and the properties specific to the selected joint are displayed in the dialog box.
  3. Set the properties of the joint. For more information, see Creating Joints.
  4. In the tree, the joint is updated under the Joints node.
