About Objectives and Constraints

Objectives and constraints set goals and limits for the response variables in a study.

You can minimize, maximize, or specify a target value for the response variable in an objective. For example, you can have a goal to maximize a frequency or minimize a stress.

Constraints define the allowable range for a response variable. By specifying constraints, you establish limits for the value of a response variable. If a constraint is violated, the design is marked as infeasible. Constraints allow you to quickly identify designs that are not acceptable.

The Response Variable Manager shows the response variables in a study as well as any objectives or constraints that you set for each response variable.
