Duplicating an Object

You use the Duplicate object batch utility to create a duplication of a simulation object. The simulation object and product referenced by the simulation is duplicated, but not the material. You can also use parameter values to prefix the string, for example: ${Run_Number}.

  1. From the Utilities section of the action bar, click 3DEXPERIENCE Utility and drop it on the process diagram.
  2. Double-click 3DEXPERIENCE Utility .
  3. From the 3DX Utility editor that appears, select the Execution tab.
  4. From the Select a 3DX Utility menu, select Duplicate object.
  5. To specify the simulation object to duplicate, do either of the following:
    • Select Content, and select a physics simulation object or simulation document in the workflow, or search for either of these objects.
    • Select Parameter, and select a parameter representing a simulation object.
  6. Enter the string that will be used to prefix the name of the duplicated object.
  7. Optional: Select Create new branch to include evolution information with each duplicate.

    You can use Collaborative Lifecycle Management to explore the evolution information of a duplicated simulation object.

  8. Select Capture new object in to store the duplicate object in a new or existing object parameter.
  9. Optional: Configure the Execution Options.
  10. Click Ok.
