Saving SOLIDWORKS Geometry with SOLIDWORKS Simulation Studies

You can save SOLIDWORKS geometry with SOLIDWORKS simulation studies to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. You can then leverage the 3DEXPERIENCE simulation apps, which are built on state-of-the-art SIMULIA Abaqus technology, to extend your simulation workflows.

By mapping SOLIDWORKS simulation studies and features to 3DEXPERIENCE analysis cases and simulation features, you can save time setting up your simulations. See Mapping of SOLIDWORKS Simulation Features for a list of the simulation features that are transferred with a linear static or nonlinear static simulation study.

Before you begin:
  1. In the MySession widget of the 3DEXPERIENCE task pane, do the following:
    1. From the Simulation section of the action bar, click Create Structural Simulation .
The app saves the selected simulation studies to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
Important: Only simulation studies related to the active SOLIDWORKS configuration are transferred. When the transfer completes, a message informs you that the simulation is ready on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
    2. When prompted to open the simulation on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, click Yes.
The 3DEXPERIENCE Launcher opens a simulation scenario app (Structural Scenario Creation, Mechanical Scenario Creation, or Linear Structural Scenario Creation).
  2. In the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, do the following:
    1. In the Simulation Initialization dialog box, select the simulation studies to transfer to 3DEXPERIENCE analysis cases, and click OK.
For each simulation study you select, the app creates a 3DEXPERIENCE analysis case. Each analysis case corresponds to a transferred simulation study.

When the transfer of simulation studies completes, the Simulation Status dialog box lists the status for each transferred study in a separate tab. A green check indicates that the specific feature transferred successfully. Hover over the information icons to view important notes about the transfer of specific simulation features.

Tips: You can open Simulation Status at any time from the Standard area of the action bar.

To create a 3DEXPERIENCE analysis case without transferring a SOLIDWORKS simulation study, select Create analysis case. In this case, the created analysis case does not contain any transferred simulation features.

    2. From the Standard section of the action bar, select Feature Manager to review the simulation features linked to the active analysis case.

The Feature Manager provides a convenient display to view model, scenario, and results data for the selected analysis case.

You can now add more features to the analysis cases, run the simulations, and explore results using the 3DEXPERIENCE simulation apps.
