About Test Scripts

A test script is a manual or automated script that contains the instructions for implementing a test. You can link one or more test scripts to a test case. In addition, if you need to capture a step-by-step status, you can add test steps to the test script. Test executions linked to a test case use a test script that defines the test procedures to perform.

Typically, the methods developer creates the test scripts. When the test script is ready for review, the method developer moves the test script from InWork to Frozen. The leader reviews the test script and then moves the test script from Frozen to Released.

Note: You can promote the test script to the Released state even when the test script contains linked documents in a different modified state. For example, a simulation template linked to the test script could be in the Development state.

Test Scripts and Access Levels

Test scripts (and all test objects) belong to specific content categories. The category of content, along with your access level, determines what actions you can take on the various types of content.

To create test scripts, you must have the Author access role (at a minimum).
