Copying Test Cases

You can copy an existing test case to create a duplicate with identical attributes. These attributes contain the same linked test management objects.

You might have a scenario in which creating a new test case is easier when starting from a copy of one that already exists. For example, you might want to have two similar test cases that differ only by one or two variables.

Copy a Test Case from the Selected Test Specification

You can copy a test case from the selected test specification.

  1. From the Review pane, select the test case you want to copy.
  2. Click Copy.
  3. Optional: Modify the following parameters:
    1. Title - Edit this field to create a new name for the duplicate test case. By default, the title is Copy of <original test case name>.
    2. Description - Edit this field to reflect any changes from the original. By default, the description is unchanged from the original.
  4. Click Create.

Validation and Verification Strategy copies all the attached test scripts and requirements to the duplicate test copy.

Copy Test Cases from a Different Test Specification

You can copy test cases from a different test specification.

  1. From the Review pane, select the test specification.
  2. Click Test Case.
  3. Click Copy/Link existing Test Cases.
  4. Select Copy.
  5. Drag the test cases that you want to create to the Test Cases field.

    You can drag the test cases from the search results or from another open widget.

  6. Optional: Modify the Prefix Title with - Edit this field to create a new prefix of the duplicate test cases. By default, the title is Copy of <original test case name>.
  7. Click Create.

Validation and Verification Strategy copies all the attached test scripts and requirements to the duplicate test copy.

Note: Validation and Verification Strategy retains requirements links if the selected test specifications share the same requirements.
