Locking or Unlocking Documents

You can lock or unlock documents from the Open dialog box or from a document that is open in Inventor. This feature restricts two different users from simultaneously editing a document. When you lock a document, only you can modify it in 3DEXPERIENCE Platform. Any modifications performed using another user on the document locked by you are rejected. You can modify the lock status only using a user with administrator rights. The nodes of open documents indicate whether the documents are locked or not.

Lock/Unlock from the Open Dialog Box

You can lock or unlock a document from the Open dialog box.

Before you begin: Ensure that the required documents to lock or unlock are available in 3DEXPERIENCE Platform.

In the Open dialog box, search for required documents. For more information, see Searching Designs.

The

column in the Open dialog box displays the current lock status of the designs using the following icons:


Icon	Description
	Designs are not locked.
	Designs are locked by another user.
	Designs are locked by you.

In the Open dialog box, click the

column for a document to change its lock status.

The following table lists the change in status:


Current Lock Status	Status on Clicking Icon
	: Document is locked. OR An error message is displayed if you do not have permissions to lock the document.
	: Document is unlocked. OR An error message is displayed if you do not have permissions to unlock the document.
	: Document is unlocked.

In the Open dialog box, right-click a document and select Lock or Unlock to change its status.

The Lock/Unlock option is available only if the MCADInteg-UnlockedModifiedReporting attribute is set to true in the GCO.

Tip: You should manually remove the MCADInteg-FileReadOnlyBehavior attribute from the GCO as it no longer exists.

For multiple selections, the following table lists the availability of Lock or Unlock options depending on the lock/unlock status of selected documents:

Note: The lock/unlock status is not updated real-time. Refresh the status to update modifications performed in the lock status outside the active Inventor session.

Use the Lock Modified Documents Dialog Box

You can modify the lock status of documents available for modification from the Lock modified documents dialog box. You can only modify the lock status of documents that are not locked by you or are locked by another user. The Lock modified documents dialog box appears when you modify a document that is not locked by you or is locked by another user.

Before you begin:

In Solid Edge, if you modify a document that is not locked by you or is locked by another user, the Lock modified documents dialog box appears.
The Lock modified documents dialog box lists documents in the active session that are unlocked, or are locked by another user and impacted by modifications.
By default, the documents that are unlocked and not obsolete are selected.

For an obsolete document, the Status column displays .

Note: You can customize columns and their order of display in the Lock modified documents dialog.
Click Lock All to select all documents that can be locked by you or click Lock None to clear all selections.

Note: Documents locked by another user are not available for selection.
Click OK.

The selected documents are locked.
