Opening Designs From 3DEXPERIENCE platform in Solid Edge

This task shows you how to open designs from 3DEXPERIENCE Platform in Solid Edge.

Before you begin: The designs must already be saved in 3DEXPERIENCE Platform. See Saving Designs.
  1. Click 3DEXPERIENCE > Open from Solid Edge toolbar.
    The 3DEXPERIENCE Open dialog box opens.
  2. Search for the designs using Search option in 3DEXPERIENCE Open dialog box. See Searching Designs.
    The search results are listed.
    Note: Shared structures are not expanded for each occurrence on the search list of 3DEXPERIENCE Open dialog box.

    Select a design from the list to view the preview image of the design which is displayed in the left corner of 3DEXPERIENCEOpen dialog box. For information on the 3DEXPERIENCE Open dialog box, see 3DEXPERIENCE Open or 3DEXPERIENCE Insert Dialog Box.

  3. Enter the following options in 3DEXPERIENCE Open dialog box:
    • Checkout To. The designs opened from 3DEXPERIENCE are downloaded to the directory specified. The directory specified in the Checkout preferences by the Integration Administrator is shown by default. Click [...] to browse and select another directory as the checkout directory.
    • View. Click and select a table defined by the Integration Administrator from the drop down list. The selected table is applied to the 3DEXPERIENCE Open dialog box.
  4. Click Open.

    Over-write dialog box appears in following cases -

    • Document iteration being opened is different than local Iteration.
    • Document is modified either on local disk or in server.
    • Document is already open in CAD session.

    If you select all and click Overwrite , all the files listed in the file overwrite confirmation dialog are overwritten. The files corresponding to the parent nodes that are selected for the Open operation are loaded in the CAD tool.

    If you select only the particular files and click Overwrite then only the selected files are overwritten. The files corresponding to the parent nodes which are selected for the Open operation are loaded in the CAD tool (The file is loaded in the CAD tool irrespective of whether it was selected for overwrite or not).

    If you click Overwrite without selecting anything then None of the files listed in the file overwrite confirmation dialog are overwritten. The files corresponding to the parent nodes which are selected for the Open operation are loaded in the CAD tool (The file is loaded in the CAD tool even when it is not overwritten).

    Click Cancel to cancel the Open operation.

The selected designs are opened in Solid Edge and also downloaded to the location specified in Checkout To in 3DEXPERIENCE Open dialog box.
