About Sharing Files

When you do not want to work within folders and workspaces, you can use the My Work folder in Windows Explorer and link to existing files on the 3DEXPERIENCE server. You can check out, edit, and check in the files from My Work; any changes are saved to the original object on the 3DEXPERIENCE server.

Note: While My Work provides a convenient location to access shared files, you can also share files to workspaces and folders you create on the 3DEXPERIENCE server.

You can share files using these methods:

  • Selecting files and dragging and dropping them to a new location.
  • Copying files, navigating to the destination location, right-clicking and clicking Paste Shared.
  • Performing a search, selecting files to share, right-clicking and clicking Send to.

With any of these methods, the Add Files dialog box appears to let you select the files to add as shared files.

By default, when you share files to create links, referenced files and drawings are also shared.

The sources of shared files can be workspace folders, folders within My Work, or search results.

The destinations can be workspace folders or folders within My Work.
