About Search

With Connector for SOLIDWORKS, you can search for files when you view 3DEXPERIENCE in Windows Explorer, or when you use a SOLIDWORKS command such as Open, Save As, Insert, or Replace to invoke a file dialog box.

Sharing Search Result Files with a Send To

Note: Use the 3DEXPERIENCE Search whenever you are searching for files and objects while viewing 3DEXPERIENCE from Windows Explorer. The Windows Explorer Search does not work from inside of Connector for SOLIDWORKS.

The Search card, or form, displays in the Search tab. You can enter your search criteria directly into this card. When the software completes the search, it displays the results in the either above the search card or to the left of the search card.

Note: Case sensitivity for your entries depends on the server settings and Search Form. If the system administrator sets systemcasesensitivity=true and you select the Case Sensitive check box in Search Form, the search is case sensitive. If you do not want a case sensitive search, either the administrator must change the server setting or you must clear the Case Sensitive check box in Search Form.

You can then select any file displayed in the search results for further processing, such as viewing its file properties and references, or opening it in SOLIDWORKS. Or you can select search result files and use a Send To command to share the files with another folder or My Work. Additionally, you can save your search in a favorite search list for future searches and manage your list of favorite searches.
