Check Out Dialog Box

Checking out a file gives you exclusive right to edit it until you check it back in. Other users can open the file for viewing and copying but cannot change it. The Check Out dialog box appears when you select the files or folders to check out and click Actions > Check Out.

Toolbar

The toolbar provides commands for manipulating, displaying, viewing, and changing the dialog box.



Navigate all warning typesDisplays the list of message types you can navigate. This command only appears when the dialog box displays more than one type of message.
Next WarningSelects the next file with a warning. This command only appears when the dialog box displays more than one file name with a warning.
Previous WarningSelects the previous file with a warning. This command only appears when the dialog box displays more than one file name with a warning.

Select FilesOpens the Select Files dialog box, where you can specify a wildcard pattern to select files.


Open File ListOpens the file list in Windows Excel so that you can print or save a spreadsheet containing the information.


Save File ListSaves the file list as a comma separated values file with the extension .txt.
View ModeLets you select Details or Content. Details can provide up to 13 columns of information, some of which include check boxes for you to select. Content can provide the same information in up to six columns and includes a thumbnail next to each file name.
Hide PreviewLets you toggle between:
  • Hide Preview , which displays the thumbnail of the selected file. Click to hide the thumbnail.
  • Show Preview hides the thumbnail of the selected file. Click to show the thumbnail.

File List

The file list has a Details and Content mode.

Tip: To display hidden columns in the Files to check out table, right-click any column heading and select hidden columns. Right-click selected columns to hide columns.

Details Mode

These are the some of the columns available in the Details view. You can choose which columns to display.

Name

Selected files and files referenced by them. For assemblies, the list can include drawings, parts, sub-assemblies, and SOLIDWORKS Simulation files.

Note: The related drawings can be in the current folder or in a folder elsewhere on the server. By default, Connector for SOLIDWORKS checks the server for related drawings. The scope of the search depends on administrative settings.

Result

Result of check-out validation:

  • The file is available to check out if the column shows OK.
  • The file is not available to check out if the column shows messages such as:

    File is checked out by you.

    File is checked out.

    No Checkout Rights.

    The file is not rebuilt.

    Tip: To learn more about a message with a , right-click the message and click Explain Warning.

    Has released configuration!

    This symbol is displayed when your administrator has configured blocking for warnings.

    Tip: To review the warnings, use the Next Warning and Previous Warning toolbar commands.

Check OutLets you select files to check out. Retrieves latest iterations of selected files. When a file is selected to check out, the corresponding Get check box is always selected.
Get

Retrieves read-only copies of the latest iterations. Clearing both Check Out and Get leaves the local file unchanged (as though you had not selected it for this operation).

Local Iter.The first letter/number pair is the local (cached) iteration and the second pair is the iteration on the 3DEXPERIENCE server. Also part of the iteration listing for each file is one of the following:
  • Modified - The local file is modified after retrieval from the 3DEXPERIENCE server.
  • Out of Date - The local file is out-of-date. The file on the 3DEXPERIENCE server is more recent than the local file.
  • Local File - The file exists on the local disk but is not checked into the 3DEXPERIENCE server.
  • Latest Iteration - The local iteration and the iteration on the 3DEXPERIENCE server match.
  • No Local Copy - The file exists on the 3DEXPERIENCE server but there is no local copy.
Checked Out ByUser who has the file checked out, or blank if not checked out.
Checked Out InComputer and local folder where the file is checked out, or blank if not checked out.
Referenced as

Specifies how a parent file references a child file: full path, relative path, or file name only. 3DEXPERIENCE looks for references without full path names in the location specified for the parent.

Found inServer folder containing the file.
StateLife Cycle state of the file, for example, Submit for Approval or No Approval Required.

Content View Mode

These are the standard columns available in the Content view when all the columns display. You can customize the column display and add more information to the Properties column.

File

Displays

  • Thumbnails of the selected files and files referenced by them. For assemblies, the list can include drawings, parts, sub-assemblies, and SOLIDWORKS Simulation files.
  • File names of the selected files and the files referenced by them.

      File is checked out by you.

PropertiesAvailable only if you select Properties from the Choose Properties dialog box. The column contains the information for the Properties you select.
