3DEXPERIENCE Task Pane Icons

In the 3DEXPERIENCE task pane, you can view file variables and execute commands from a toolbar or right-click menu.

Click the 3DEXPERIENCE tab of the task pane to view a hierarchical display of the selected file and its components.

You can also configure the appearance of the task pane in the Options dialog box.

To rearrange columns, drag a column header to a new location.

Tip: File / Variable must be the first column.

Toolbar

At the top of the task pane is the toolbar:

Get Latest IterationGets the latest iteration of the file in the database.


Get IterationLets you get a specific iteration of the file from the database.


Check OutChecks the selected file out. Other users are prevented from modifying the file.


Check In Checks the selected file in.


Show CardDisplays the properties dialog box.


Explore in WebOpens the Web client.


Open File LocationOpens the File Explorer window to the location of the selected file.


Zoom to selectionSOLIDWORKS command. Zooms to the selected part or assembly.


OpenSOLIDWORKS command. Opens the selected part or assembly.


EditSOLIDWORKS command. Lets you edit the selected part or assembly.
View ModeLets you select from the flyout Details or Content. Details provides several columns of information. Content provides the same information in fewer columns and includes a thumbnail next to each file name.
Hide DetailsLets you toggle between:
  • Hide Details , which displays the details pane that includes variable listing for any file you select and the thumbnail for the file. Click to hide the details pane.
  • Show Details hides the details pane with the variable and thumbnail for any file you select. Click to display the details pane.

Details Pane

The details pane is located at the bottom of the task pane. It includes variable information about the component that you select from the file list and a thumbnail of the component.

If you are unable to see the details pane, from the toolbar click Show Details .

The details pane contains information variables and commands. You control the variables and commands that display in this pane from the Options dialog box. The following are some of the possible variables that can display:

File / VariableSelected file.
Local Iter.The revision and iteration of the file in the local cache and in the database.

The first letter/number pair is the local (cached) iteration. If the file has been locally modified, the letter and number are replaced by a hyphen.

The second letter/number pair is the latest revision and iteration in the database.

Checked out byDisplays the name of a user who has checked out the file.
Lifecycle stateThe current state of the file as defined in the life cycle.
Child Quick InfoIndicates if there are children for the file.
ConfigurationThe SOLIDWORKS-defined configuration.
NameThe file name of the selected file.
Object NameThe object name of the selected file. This name corresponds to the Name in the default card for the file.
OwnerLists the name of the owner of the file.
DescriptionIncludes a brief description of the part or assembly.

The details pane also includes a preview pane that displays the thumbnail for any file you select in the task pane. To control the preview pane, use these commands.

Expands the preview pane to display the thumbnail for the selected filed. You may also have to adjust the width of the preview pane to make the thumbnail fully visible.
Collapses the preview pane, thereby making the thumbnail invisible in the details pane.

Quick Info Icons

The Quick Info icons appear in the top section of the task pane next to the file and in the Child Quick Info column.

Checked in by another user in this session.
The local file is the same as the 3DEXPERIENCE server iteration.
The local file is older than the 3DEXPERIENCE server iteration.
The local file is edited but not saved.
The local file is newer than the 3DEXPERIENCE server iteration.
The local file not on the 3DEXPERIENCE server.

Shortcut Menu

Right-click a file in the task pane to access the menu.

Tip: You can also access many of the commands by right-clicking in the Feature Manager design tree.
Select AllSelects all the files listed in the task pane.
Refresh TreeRefreshes the information displayed in the tree, including status of files checked out or checked in by other users since the last refresh.
Collapse AllCollapses the view of the variables for all components of the currently selected file.
Expand AllExpands the view of the variables for all components of the currently selected file.
Show CardDisplays the data card for the file.
Get Latest IterationRetrieves the latest iteration of the file from the database.
GetLets you select a iteration from the list to retrieve it from the database.
Check OutChecks out the file for editing.
Check InChecks in the file with your changes.
Undo Check OutCancels a check out without saving changes.
BaselineCreates a baseline for the active document.
PromotePromotes the file to the next state in its lifecycle.
Zoom to SelectionSOLIDWORKS command. Zooms to the selected part or subassembly.
OpenSOLIDWORKS command. Opens the selected part.
EditSOLIDWORKS command. Lets you edit the selected part.
