Using the 3DEXPERIENCE Task Pane

You can use the 3DEXPERIENCE task pane to execute commands and view information about files in the database.

  1. Open a file in the database.
  2. Click 3DEXPERIENCE to display the task pane.
    The upper section of the task pane lists the open file and its components. Columns provide details about the listed files.

    The lower section displays the preview pane, which shows the status variable information for a file you select in the pane and a thumbnail of the file. The preview pane only displays in when the toolbar displays Hide Preview .

  3. Use the toolbar buttons at the top of the task pane to perform 3DEXPERIENCE and SOLIDWORKS commands on the selected file.



    Note: You can also right-click to access commands.

  4. To see a different view of the task pane file list, click the View Mode flyout and select either Details or Content.

    Details displays the file listing part of the task pane with several columns of information.

    Content displays the same information as the Details view but in fewer columns and includes a thumbnail of each file.

  5. To see a variable and command listing and a thumbnail of an assembly or part, click the component.

    If the component status and thumbnail fail to display in a details pane at the bottom of the task pane, from the toolbar, click Show Details .

    If you are only unable to see the thumbnail, from the details pane, click the arrow . You may also have to adjust the width of the thumbnail preview pane to make the thumbnail fully visible.

  6. To highlight in the SOLIDWORKS work area an assembly or multi-body part, click the component.
