Creating Tangent Walls

You can create a wall tangent to one of the planar shapes of another wall or a flange.

This task shows you how to:

Create a Tangent Wall

You can create a tangent wall.

  1. Select a face of a wall on edge with bend.
  2. From the Model section of the action bar, click Positioned Sketch to access the Sketcher app.
  3. From the Sketch section of the action bar, click Profile and sketch the profile.
  4. From the Transform section of the action bar, click Constraints Defined in Dialog box .
  5. Set a Coincidence constraint between the edges where the support and sketch are to coincide.


  6. To return to the 3D area, click Exit app.
  7. From the Model section of the action bar, click Wall .
    A red arrow indicates the orientation of the wall to be created.
    Note: The orientation automatically changes to conform to the material orientation defined on the tangency support wall.


  8. Select the two walls on edge.
    Warning:
    • You cannot select a lateral face in the Connect to box.
    • A tangent wall cannot be created between elements that are not connected, for instance between two separate walls.
  9. Click OK.
    The wall is created with a tangency to both the walls on edge with bends.

Create a Tangent Wall on Edge

You can create a tangent wall on edge.

  1. From the Model section of the action bar, click Wall on Edge and select an edge of the wall.
    The wall on edge is previewed.
  2. Make sure the With Bend option is cleared.
  3. Enter 180 deg in the Angle box.
