Automatically Lock Definition Content at Creation

This access rule determines if the app automatically locks Engineering definition content at creation. By default, this access rule does not lock reference and instance content when that content is created.

If you change the setting for this rule, you must Reload the Server Cache.

These are your choices for this access rule:

  • Reference (such as a Physical product, 3D Part, or 3D Shape)
  • Instance (a usage of a component within an assembly or structure)
  • Reference and Instance
  • None

This access rule applies only to definition content. You can configure the system to lock one, both, or neither types of content. An instance is considered as definition if both its parent and child belong to the definition category of content. If either the parent or child is not definition content, then the instance is not definition content.

If the user has system privileges or if the User Agent context is used when creating content, that content is not locked. This type of creation can occur when exchanging data, migrating data, XPDM, or synchronization.

In the background, a create operation includes a modify operation. This means that when the Lock Definition Content Before Modification access rule is selected, you must select either Reference or Reference and Instance for this access rule.
