Creating Standard Space Structure

You can create a standard space structure using a space root, a space system, a space concept root, and a space folder.

While creating the space structure, you can specify the design range for space root, space system, space folder, space concept root, space concept node, space reference, design space reference, manufacturing space reference, and user-defined space reference if any. The Space Allocation app supports normal, large, and extra large ranges.

Create a Space Root

You can create a space root in the tree.

  1. From the Compass, click Space Allocation.
    The New Content panel displays the commands for creating new space contents.

    The following commands are available in the Space Allocation list:

    • Design Space Reference
    • Manufacturing Space Reference
    • User-defined space reference, if any
    • Space Concept Node
    • Space Concept Root
    • Space Folder
    • Space Reference
    • Space Root
    • Space System

  2. Select Space Root .

    The Space Root dialog box appears.

  3. Specify the required details in the dialog box and click OK.
    The space root is created in the tree.
    Note: The space root is a product.
  4. Insert the required volume, an existing 3D part, and a plane system using the context menus available on the space root.

Create a Space System

You can create a space system under space root in the tree.

Before you begin: Create a space root in the tree.
  1. Right-click the space root and select Insert > Space System .
    The Space System dialog box appears.
  2. Select Space system with cutting elements in the Space System Options tab.
  3. Specify other details in the dialog box and click OK.
    The space system is created in the tree under the space root. The SpaceManager.x node is available under the space system depending on the selection.
    Note: The space system is a 3D part.

Create a Space Concept Root

You can create a space concept root under the space root in the tree.

Before you begin: Create a space root in the tree.
  1. Right-click the space root and select Insert > Space Concept Root .
    The Space Concept Root dialog box appears.
  2. Click the Space Concept Root Options tab.
  3. In the Space type box, select one of the following space types:
    • Design Space
    • Manufacturing Space
    • Any other user-defined space type
  4. Specify other details in the dialog box and click OK.
    The space concept root is created in the tree under the space root. The SpaceHierarchy.x node is available under the space system.
    Note: The space concept root is a product.
  5. Right-click the space concept root and select Insert > Space Concept Node .
    The Space Concept Node dialog box appears.
  6. Specify the required details in the dialog box and click OK.
    The space concept node is created in the tree under the space concept root.
    Note: The space concept node is a product.

Create a Space Folder

You can create a space folder under the space root in the tree.

Before you begin: Create a space root in the tree.
  1. Right-click the space root and select Insert > Space Folder .
    The Space Folder dialog box appears.
  2. Specify the required details in the dialog box and click OK.
    The space folder is created in the tree under the space root.
    Notes:
    • This space folder is assigned in Data Setup. For more information, see Space Allocation Resources: Available Resources.
    • If no space folder is assigned in Data Setup, the space folder available under the same space root is used for publication and synchronization of the space references.
    • If a space folder is assigned in Data Setup but not present in the current session, then the space folder available under the same space root is used for publication and synchronization of the space references.
  3. Right-click the space folder and insert one of the following space references:
    • Design Space Reference
    • Manufacturing Space Reference
    • Any other user-defined space reference
  4. Specify the required details in the dialog box and click OK.
    The space reference node is created in the tree under the space folder.
    Note: The space reference is a 3D part.
