Creating Reference Plane System by Using .xml File

You can create reference plane system by using an existing .xml file.


Before you begin:
  • Set up resources in Data Setup.
  • Import a predefined .xml file to the database. To import .xml file:
    1. In the top bar, select Add > Content.

      The New Content dialog box appears

    2. Select the VPM Document type.

      The VPM Document dialog box appears.

    3. In the Files Information tab, click Browse.

      The Select File dialog box appears.

    4. Select the required file and click Save.
    5. Click OK in the VPM Document dialog box.
    Important: The reference plane system must be created using XML version 2. If this is not the case, you must convert the .xml file to XML version 2.

Setting up the Environment
  1. From the top bar, select Add > Content.

    Tip: To insert a space reference system under a physical product, right-click the physical product node and select Insert > Extended Product.

    The New Content dialog box appears listing the Favorites, the Most Recently Used objects and various categories. For more information about creating a new object, see 3DEXPERIENCE Native Apps: Creating New Objects.
  2. Expand the Space Referential category.
  3. Right-click Space Reference System and select Set attributes at creation.
  4. Select the Space Reference System.
    The Space Reference System dialog box appears.
  5. In the Space Reference System tab, specify the following:
    1. Enter the part number and description.
    2. Select the design range.

      Important: The Space Referential app supports normal and large ranges only.

  6. In the Project Definition tab, click Select to choose an .xml file.
    The other boxes used for specifying the parameters disappear. A new dialog box appears.
  7. Search for the required .xml file or import a file from the database.
  8. Click OK.
    The .xml file is selected and the name of the file is displayed in the XML Input box. In addition, a message appears stating that the .xml file is validated.
    Note: The other options in the Project Definition tab and the options in Orientation Definition tab are disappeared.
  9. Click OK in the Space Reference System dialog box.
    The reference plane system is created by using an .xml file. The 3D grid is created automatically and identified as 3D Grid.1 in the tree. By default, the 3D grid is set as non-current to hide the 3D grid in the session.

Important:
  • To show the 3D grid in the session, right-click the 3D grid node in the tree, and select 3D Grid object.x > Set As Current.
  • If you are using the reference plane system from the previous releases, you need to upgrade the reference plane system. See Upgrading Reference Plane System.
  • You cannot delete the 3D grid and working support.
