Modifying Reference Planes

You can modify the name, short name, offset value, and category of reference planes.

Modify Name and Short Name

You can modify names and short names of selected reference planes.

  1. From the Operations section of the action bar, click Table Editor .
    The Table Editor dialog box appears.
  2. In the Plane System list, select a plane system.
    All reference planes of the selected plane system are displayed in the Reference Planes tab.
  3. Double-click the name of a reference plane to be modified.
  4. Type the required name.
    The name is changed in the Reference Planes column and in the tree.
  5. Double-click the short name of a reference plane to be changed.
  6. Type the required name.
    The name is changed in the Short Name column and in the tree.
  7. Click OK.

Modify Offset Value

You can modify the offset value for selected reference planes.

  1. Double-click the required row.
  2. Type the required offset value.
    The value is changed in the Offset column and in the Distance column accordingly.
  3. Click OK.

Change Category

You can change the category of selected reference planes.

  1. Double-click in the required row.
  2. Select a category from the list.
    The category of the reference plane is modified.
    Important:
    • The list displays categories defined in the dictionary assigned in Data Setup.
    • The Set as MidShip command is available only for reference planes along the length. The Set as CenterLine command is available only for reference planes along the width.
    • If you set the reference plane to CenterLine or MidShip, you cannot change it unless you assign any other reference plane as centerline or midship.
    • If you select the midship, centerline, or reference plane in the tree, the corresponding plane is highlighted in the 3D area.
    • If you have assigned business rule for plane properties in Data Setup, the color and thickness of planes change according to the category. For more information, see Plane Properties (PlaneProperties).
  3. To remove the category, right-click in the required row and select Remove Category.
    The applied category for selected reference planes is removed.

Tips:
  • To add a plane above the selected reference plane, right-click a cell and select Insert Before. To add a plane below the selected reference plane, right-click a cell and select Insert After.
  • To delete a plane, right-click a cell and select Delete .
  • For modifying multiple rows:
    1. Hold down Ctrl to select multiple rows.
    2. Double-click a selected row, and type the required name, short name, offset value, or category.

      All selected reference planes are modified.

  • You can click:
    • Align Plane Names to align the name of reference planes with the name of the reference plane system.
    • Align Plane Suffix to align the suffix of reference planes with the reference plane system.
    • Align Short Names to align the short name of reference planes with the name of the reference plane system.
    • Align Short Name Suffix to align the suffix of short name of reference planes with the reference plane system.
    • You can also align the plane names, plane suffix, short names, short name suffix of the filtered reference planes only with the reference plane system.
