You can drag objects from the 3DEXPERIENCE PLM Services taskpane or from a separate browser connected to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform into SOLIDWORKS to open them. The objects are opened if the 3DEXPERIENCE PLM Services tab in side panel of SOLIDWORKS is open.

When you drag an object, the object opens from My Work. If the object is not in My Work, it is downloaded from the 3DEXPERIENCE platform to My Work and opened.

You can select one or more objects from the following 3DEXPERIENCE services to drag them:

  • MySession
  • Change Action
  • Attachments and Deliverables of Collaborative Tasks
  • Product Structure Explore

When you drag an object in a part, it is inserted in the part. When you drag an object in a drawing, three standard orthographic views are created in the drawing.

When you drag multiple objects, only one object is displayed until you drag them into SOLIDWORKS.

You cannot drag objects from Relations.

When an object cannot be opened by dragging, error message is not displayed. In this case, the object is downloaded in My Work but it does not open in SOLIDWORKS.

Note: Do not drag objects from 3DEXPERIENCE PLM Services taskpanes that are connected to a server into SOLIDWORKS that is connected to a different server.
