While using Reload from Server, you can download the latest version of an object. This download overwrites the existing files by default, if they are not locally modified. While using Open, you can download the latest version of an object. This download overwrites the existing files, if they are not open in SOLIDWORKS and if they are not locally modified. Local files are not overwritten under the following conditions:
If a structure contains files with the same file name as in the local cache, these duplicate files are automatically renamed and the file is downloaded in the local cache. Also, the references of these files are updated to the automated name. Note:
Autonaming of these
duplicate file names is applicable for parts, assemblies, and drawings in SOLIDWORKS 2020 SP4 and above.
You can overwrite a local file of any revision with the same file of another revision, using Open. The above mentioned conditions are verified, during the overwrite operation. You cannot open a file, if an overwrite fails because of a naming conflict. When you open a SOLIDWORKS object, the object opens from the My Work folder, if it is already in the local My Work folder. Use Reload from server to get the latest modifications of that object from 3DEXPERIENCE server. You can open a file present on the local disk, and save it directly on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform without being copied in the My Work folder. When you save the files for the first time in the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, the Copy to My Work folder dialog box is not displayed except for the case when the Enforce Autonaming option is selected in the settings page 3DEXPERIENCE platform. A Remote Files directory is created and the structure of the original files is replicated. Note:
Only the remote files directory is visible and not
the hierarchy.
When you open a file outside the My Work folder and its cache is not clean and the reference to the original location is deleted, an error message is displayed. Also, if the link between the original file location and the 3DEXPERIENCE server is deleted, the file is treated as a new file. When you open an assembly having the same parts with different revisions, a warning is displayed, that informs you about the multiple revisions of the same part. After clicking OK in the warning dialog box, the SOLIDWORKS session is built using the latest revision of the conflicting revisions. |
