Single-Server Installation

During installation of 3DSpace Index, you have a choice of the number of slices to use for indexing. This topic covers the setup of a single index server, rather than a high-availability distributed server.

Single-Slice Installation

When you set up a single-server installation with one slice, the resulting configuration is structured as shown below.

Multiple-Slice Installation

You cannot set up multislice installation if you need to use X-CAD Product Architecture Designer, 3D Product Engineer, Product Explorer, Folder Editor, 3DCompare, or Relational Explorer. These applications require a single-slice installation.

When you set up a single-service, multislice installation, both MQL and the Main Collaboration Server (MCS) view the CloudView deployment as one server. Adding slices to an index requires to reindex data. With the multiple-slice installation, the resulting configuration is structured as shown below.
