Tagging or Untagging Objects

This task shows you how to tag an object or remove a tag from an object. Tagging is the application of a symbolic name, called a tag, to a version or a branch. Tags can only be applied to objects that are under revision control.

The tag operation tags versions or branches of objects in the vault, not the local copies of objects in your work area. Although tags reside on object versions in the vault, the tag operation uses the object versions in your work area to determine the versions to tag in the vault.

Before you begin:
  • The DesignSync server must be running.
  • You must have selected DesignSync objects suitable for tagging.
  1. Select the desired objects and choose DesignSync | Tag.
    The Tag dialog displays.
  2. Select the desired tag options and press Ok to begin the tag operation.

The dialog box specifies whether a tag is added, removed, or moved (replaced). When a tag is moved, you specify the Add a tag operation with the Replace existing tag operation to move the tag from the previously tagged version to the currently selected version.

The operation is performed and the results are logged in the DesignSync console view and log file.

The selected objects are tagged, or a tag is removed from the objects, depending on the values specified when the command is performed.
