Context for the Board

You can work with tasks within a given context.

For example, you might view tasks on the board having the context of a particular project, risk, specification, opportunity, issue, document, or part. The context is a property on a task and you can use it to group tasks. For example, if you create some tasks with a context of a specific project, you can use the context area to view only leaf tasks having that project context. Type-ahead is available.

A context set to a project and the "View by" filter set to "All" shows all the tasks connected to the project (not only those owned by or assigned to you).

A context set to a project also shows all subproject tasks in the project structure.

  1. To change the context, click and select another context. Or click inside the field and begin entering.

By default the context area for the entire board is "My Tasks," which are tasks you own or are assigned to:

You can use drag, as described in Drag and Drop.

If the context is a project or risk, click the name to view the project or risk in the Project Management app. For other values that are links, you can click the link for more information.

  2. To reset the context back to "Context: My Tasks," click next to the current context.

For example, if the current context were for "P1," you would see .

  3. You can click and select Properties, Remove, Open, or Open With (for the apps available to your license).

If you click the context name, you can open it in the compass with any supported 3DDashboard app. For example, you could open a 3DXML file using 3DPlay.
