Saving to 3DEXPERIENCE

You can save electronic physical designs and component data from an OrCAD library along with the product structure to 3DEXPERIENCE. You can also update the classification attributes of a component and save it to a category in 3DEXPERIENCE. For variants, save to 3DEXPERIENCE reads all existing assembly variant definitions. Each assembly variant is handled the same way as an invariant design assembly. You can select and assign assemblies. If existing assemblies are not assigned, assemblies are created automatically.

Each assembly holds the ECAD name of the variant. For an initial save to 3DEXPERIENCE, the library components must be imported.

Note: You must have a product structure to save a project.

Before you begin:
  • Click 3DEXPERIENCE > Electronic Component Editor to open the Electronic Component Editor dialog box.
  • To work with variants, you must enable the CIS license in the Collaborative Spaces Configuration Center. A user specific 3DEXPERIENCE based CIS database that contains components is provided locally while placing or adding components.

From the list, select a category to save the selected objects to that category.
Title Displays the title of the CAD object in 3DEXPERIENCE.
    Revision
    • : Creates a revision. If the next revision is chosen in the list, the object is selected directly. If the check box is cleared, the object switches back to its original revision.
    • : Creates a revision for a new object or for objects saved as new. New is displayed by default for objects that are not saved to 3DEXPERIENCE.
Revision Displays the current revision of the object in 3DEXPERIENCE.
Status Displays the status of the CAD object in 3DEXPERIENCE.
CAD Type Displays the CAD type of the CAD object in 3DEXPERIENCE.
Name Displays the name of the object in 3DEXPERIENCE.
Description Description of the CAD object in 3DEXPERIENCE.
Maturity State Displays the maturity state of the object in 3DEXPERIENCE.
Lock Status Specifies the object's lock status in 3DEXPERIENCE.
    Lock Owner

Displays the name of the user who has locked the corresponding object in 3DEXPERIENCE.

Collaborative Space Displays the name of the space where the object is saved in 3DEXPERIENCE.
Bookmarks Displays the assigned bookmark for the object. One object can have multiple bookmarks. You can view the bookmarks in a tooltip.

Change Under : The indicates whether you are working under a change action. If the icon is yellow, it indicates you are working under change.

  2. In the Save dialog box, you can specify the following:

    Option Description
Bookmarks Opens the Bookmarks dialog box. You can select and assign a bookmark to the selected objects or all the objects.
Save Comment Select one or more objects and enter the reference comment. This reference comment is shown in the 3DEXPERIENCE Properties page of the objects.
Delete After Save Select this check box to delete the selected objects from the working library. The metadata of these objects is deleted.
Lock/Unlock Select this check box to lock or unlock a selected CAD object in 3DEXPERIENCE.

  3. Right-click a component. The following options are available:

    Option Description
Add to Selection Adds or removes multiple selected objects for save.
    Remove from selection
Lock Locks the selected CAD object in 3DEXPERIENCE. Once locked, the name of the user who locked the object is displayed in the Lock Owner field of the Save dialog box.
Unlock Unlocks the selected CAD object in 3DEXPERIENCE. Once unlocked, the name of the user who locked the object is removed from the Lock Owner field of the Save dialog box.
Category Opens the Category dialog box listing the available categories. Select a category and click OK to save the selected component to that category.
Save as new revision Saves the selected object or document as a new revision.
Save as new Save existing objects as new objects in 3DEXPERIENCE.
Reset to current Revision Resets the revision state of the object to the revision of the object the save was initiated from. For example, reset is applicable if the revision was changed or if the object was saved using Save as New.
