Managing Component Metadata Using 3DEXPERIENCE PTF Manager

You can use the 3DEXPERIENCE PTF Manager to manage PTF file entries from Cadence to 3DEXPERIENCE and from 3DEXPERIENCE to Cadence. You can also modify attributes in the Cadence PTF Editor and save it to 3DEXPERIENCE using the 3DEXPERIENCE PTF Manager.

This task shows you how to:

Before you begin: Ensure that an Allegro Library Project is open.
Notes:
  • Custom attributes are only updated, if for Cadence Allegro the mapping between Physical Product and Electronic Physical Component is configured. For more information about mapping configuration, see Adding Custom Attributes to Types and Configuring Attribute Mapping and Settings for CAD PLM Collaboration Services.
  • The assignment of components to a classification class is done in 3DEXPERIENCE. The component’s classification attributes and values are added to the PTF Entry when opening a component from 3DEXPERIENCE. Changes to the component’s classification attributes is updated in 3DEXPERIENCE.

Setting IP Classification Support

You can use Collaborative Spaces Configuration Center to enable classification support.

  1. In the Collaborative Spaces Configuration Center , in xCAD PLM Collaboration > Cadence Allegro > Settings > Classification enable the Use Electronic Library Classification option.
  2. In the Electronic Component Library field, enter the unique name of the library you want to use. Title is not supported.
Important: Only the library entered in this field is supported. Multiple library names should not be entered.

Save Library Components to 3DEXPERIENCE

You can save an existing library component or a library component with updated classification attributes from PTF to 3DEXPERIENCE.

  1. Click Tools > 3DEXPERIENCE and select Manage PTF.
The 3DEXPERIENCE PTF Manager dialog box appears. All configured libraries are listed in the left pane.
  2. Select the required library.
The components in the selected library are listed in the table.
  3. Select a check box of the required component from the table and click Save. You can also select multiple components to save.
A message appears when the component is saved to 3DEXPERIENCE. The status of the saved component changes to Up-to-date in the Status column.

The following data is updated in 3DEXPERIENCE.

    • TITLE attribute of the object.
    • DESCRIPTION attribute of the object.
    • Attributes matching custom attribute of the object.
    • PTF Part Type Name.
    • Key attributes with its values.
    • Injected attributes with its values.
    • Optional attributes with its values.

The following data is created if not available or updated in the PTF file.

    • CESTAMP
    • PHID.

Update PTF Entries of Library Components from 3DEXPERIENCE

You can update PTF entries (properties) or classification attributes of an existing library component from 3DEXPERIENCE.

  1. In the 3DEXPERIENCE PTF Manager, select the required library from the left pane.
The components in the selected library are listed in the table.
  2. Right-click the required component and select Update From 3DEXPERIENCE. You can also select multiple components.
The following data is created if not available or updated in the PTF file.
    • CESTAMP
    • TITLE
    • DESCRIPTION
    • Custom attributes
    • Injected and optional attributes

Assign or Reassign Components from 3DEXPERIENCE

You can assign or reassign components from 3DEXPERIENCE to existing library components.

  1. In the 3DEXPERIENCE PTF Manager, select the required library from the left pane.
The components in the selected library are listed in the table.
  2. Right-click the required component and select Search or Search for ... You cannot select multiple components for search.
The 3DEXPERIENCE Components Assignment dialog box appears.
  3. From the search results, select required component and click Assign.
The following data is created if not available or updated in the PTF file.
    • PHID
    • CESTAMP
    • TITLE
    • DESCRIPTION
    • Custom attributes
    • Injected and optional attributes.
Note: Component assignment is possible only when the XCAD_CadenceAllegro_Ext.V_CADCategory matches to the PTF Part Type.

Unassign Components from 3DEXPERIENCE

You can un-assign existing library component from 3DEXPERIENCE in PTF library. If the component is unassigned, you can save a new component to 3DEXPERIENCE.

  1. In the 3DEXPERIENCE PTF Manager, select the required library from the left pane.
The components in the selected library are listed in the table.
  2. Right-click the required component and select Unassign from 3DEXPERIENCE. You cannot select multiple components for search.
Content for following PTF entries are deleted.
    • PHID
    • CESTAMP

Create New PTF Entry from 3DEXPERIENCE

You can add or create new PTF entries in the library from 3DEXPERIENCE.

Before you begin: Ensure that the PTF Part Type is already configured in the PTF file.
  1. In the 3DEXPERIENCE PTF Manager, right-click the required library from the left pane and select Add From 3DEXPERIENCE.
The Add Electronic Physical Component From 3DEXPERIENCE dialog box appears.
  2. From the search results, select one or more components and click Add.
The following new PTF entries are added for selected components.
    • Key attributes of the PTF.
    • PHID
    • CESTAMP
    • TITLE
    • DESCRIPTION
    • Custom attributes
    • Injected and optional attributes of the PTF entry.
Note: To assign components ensure that the XCAD_CadenceAllegro_Ext.V_CADCategory matches to the PTF Part Type.

If the PTF file already has an entry with equal key attribute, conflict occurs. Conflict entry appears for the conflicted objects. Do the following to resolve the conflict.

    1. Close 3DEXPERIENCE PTF Manager.
    2. Open PTF Editor in Cadence.
    3. Update the key attribute to unique value.
    4. Start 3DEXPERIENCE PTF Manager and save the component to 3DEXPERIENCE.

Delete PTF Entries

You can delete entries from 3DEXPERIENCE PTF Manager.

  1. Open 3DEXPERIENCE PTF Manager and select the required library from the left pane.
The components in the selected library are listed in the table.
  2. Right-click the required component and select Delete from PTF. You can also select multiple components.
The entries for the selected components are deleted from the PTF file.
