About Widgets

Widgets are tools that let you insert functions into a dialog box under construction. These widgets may be located wherever your want them to be and may be set up or modified at any time during the creation process. For more information about widgets, see the Enovia Studio Documentation: Rich Application Presentation Designer: Widgets Description.

About Widgets

Creating a Widget

  • Create a dialog box.
  • Go to the Layout design tab and click the Toolbox subtab. You can start to include widgets to your dialog box.
  • Select the widget in the Toobox subtab. Drag and drop it into the dialog box. If you place your widget alongside or between existing rows or columns, a new row or column is created.

Important:
  • If you want to rename a widget, click the Properties subtab > General and change the content of the Name row.
  • If you want to modify the title of a widget, go to the Properties subtab > Text Resources and change the content of the Title row.

Handling a Widget

Once a widget has been included into a dialog box, you can change its position in your dialog box area. Just select it and move it wherever you want. When moving a widget and to avoid any conflict with other widgets that are already present, you have to respect a certain distance between them. A red hatched area appears in case of conflict, mentioning that any widget creation within this area is impossible.

You can resize a widget. To do so:

  • Select it. A sizing handle appears.

  • Extend it by dragging this size handle. You can then reduce it to its minimum size. It is possible to add or remove columns by right-clicking the lines (located on the outside of the dialog box) separating widgets and by selecting either Insert row/column or Merge rows/columns.

Note: You cannot position a widget on red hatches.

Editing a Widget

The characteristics of a widget can be edited and modified. Open the Properties subtab, still in the Layout design tab. The Properties subtab offers the possibility to edit or to modify most of the layout-related characteristics for each widget. To edit a widget, select it into the dialog box and then go to the Properties subtab. The other way to select the widget is to go to the Properties subtab and to choose it in the combo box. Each widget has its own name. An additional row corresponding to the dialog box also appears, showing the possibility to edit the dialog box from the Properties subtab. The Properties subtab allows editing or modifying five categories of parameters:

  • General
  • Icons
  • Layout
  • Style
  • Text Resources (See Reference).
